As I’m sure you all know; my hair can take a bit of a battering sometimes, with all the dying and changing colours that I put it through. I’m a bit of a rainbow enthusiast, so I’m never too far away from my next colour change. However this obviously puts a lot of pressure on my hair, and can be damaging if I don’t take the best care of it that I can.
This means I try out a lot of different hair care products, and I always take note of what works best for me, the best value for money (since I need a lot of help!) and when to alternate between products.
With that in mind, I thought I’d do an update post for you guys to show what I’m using on my hair lately!
The new John Frieda Luxurious Volume range* is something I’ve been using for the past month on my hair, and I am so glad I gave it a try. The range includes; 7 Day Volume Shampoo, 7 Day Volume Conditioner, In Shower Volume Treatment, and Perfectly Full Mousse.
My two favourite products are absolutely the shampoo and conditioner, which really surprised me actually! I thought they would be run of the mill standard shampoo and conditioner, and I thought I’d get more out of the Mousse and In Shower Volume Treatment. I couldn’t have been more wrong in my predictions.
The shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling super soft instantly upon use, and when drying my hair I noticed a considerable amount of ‘bounce’ and life to it that I don’t usually have. If I don’t straighten my hair, it’s usually frizzy yet lifeless, with no volume. The ends are dry, and the roots flat as a pancake; not so great. However the John Frieda shampoo and conditioner really helped sort it out! It feels much more healthy after using these products, and even makes me feel like I don’t need to straighten my hair now to control the frizz! WINNER. Oh also, the bottles are huge! Great value for money.
I have also been trying out the In Shower Volume Treatment. After shampooing and conditioning, you run this through your hair, leave for 5 minutes then wash out. This protein and keratin infused treatment increases hair thickness for up to seven days and leaves it feeling much fuller.
I have to say my first impression of this wasn’t great, simply as I thought it’d be a little more conditioning on the hair, like a serum, y’know? It weren’t, and I found it took away the soft and silky feeling my conditioner had left me with. It DID however definitely make my limp hair feel thicker, and it felt like I’d managed to drastically improve the volume and health of my hair in a few washes. Overall I’m super happy with this, I only have one tip I’d like to share with you guys. I suggest simply running this very lightly through the middle section of your hair, rather than the roots or ends. The directions do say to run through the entire length, but I found more success just applying to the middle section. It means my roots don’t have a lot of product build up, and my ends are still totally soft, silky and nourished from the conditioner. And it leaves the treatment to work its magic in the middle length of my hair, to add wonderful volume and thickness! 🙂 Perfect.
The Mousse was absolutely perfect; nourishing, helped hold my style in place all day, and not at all sticky to touch. This is a product I’ll only use every now and again when I curl my hair, but it’ll instantly be my go to product!
And last, but certainly not least is the final product I’ve been trying out for the past few weeks as part of my hair care routine. Once I’m out of the shower, I’ll towel dry my hair as best as I can and use Mrs Braw’s Hair Oil* through the ends of my hair. This product is a blend of six lightweight oils and essences, perfect for the truly luxurious hair that you deserve! There are so many ways you can use this product; as an in shower conditioning treatment, as a serum on towel dried hair before blow drying, or as a styling product.
I found that I loved this most on my hair once towel dried. I use just two pumps to run it through the length and pay special attention to the ends of my hair, where I need the most love. Mrs Braw’s Hair Oil feels beautifully smooth, leaves hair truly nourished, and adds incredible shine once dry. I feel like this is better than any other serum I’ve ever used before, and I honestly can’t believe I’m only just trying this out! If you need to give your hair a little extra pampering, I thoroughly recommend you try this.
What hair care products have you guys been loving lately? I love recommendations!
