This week, as many of you know I’m sure; has been a real roller-coaster for me. It’s hard to know where to start, and many things I’ve already discussed on Twitter; so let me sum up the past week REALLY briefly.
My laptop is broken and 99% of my files are gone.
This is stopping me from doing all work at the moment (design work, blog work, half of my Etsy shop products are now gone, and other projects I was working on privately).
People of Twitter SO SO SO very kindly funded me enough to get a new laptop, and I can’t believe the kindness people have shown. I didn’t ask for this, but I’m so grateful. I will have the funds next week, which means I’ll probably have a laptop the week after.
So everything is on hold for two weeks. It sounds like a holiday, but its actually so fucking stressful. Im not working, which means Im not earning. Im making a tiny amount through people kindly buying things from my Etsy store; even though I know I don’t have as much on there anymore due to the file loss. I appreciate this more than words could say.
However, its not all doom and gloom. I’ve been shown such kindness from friends and supporters that I honestly have never felt more inspired in my life. It’s motivating to know people have your back; and so I’m using that to work harder than ever, and to try recreate all the work I’ve lost (hopefully better than before). I’ve been sending out thank you letters all week to people who have been so lovely to me, and trying to thank everybody. I know I can’t possibly do this for everyone, especially as some people donated anonymously, or simply didn’t leave their contact info; but it feels good to at least try show my gratitude.
So what have I been doing this week, while I wait until I can work again?
Well next week my family are visiting me here in Plymouth for the first time since I moved here, so I’m making sure the house looks absolutely perfect! I’m so excited, I haven’t seen my mum in 3 months, so it’ll be emotional. Gary’s putting up shelves, and I’ve been working on paintings to hang around our home for the perfect final touches. It’s wonderful how everything has been coming along, and I can’t wait to show my family my new home.
Since I’ve been absolutely forced to take time off from work, whether I like it or not; I’m trying to take care of myself as best I can right now. I’ve had a lot of upset this week, and stress has been building, but I’m hoping I can focus on self care throughout. Long walks, time away from the internet, DIY and a bit of pampering have all been helping me.
I was kindly sent out these samples from Being by Sanctuary Spa recently, so this week has been the perfect time to slow down, relax, and try them out. This amazing new range is now available in Boots, they are cruelty free, and luxurious as hell!
Salted Caramel & Macadamia Body Scrub*
My absolute favourite of the samples sent to me, was the body scrub. OH MY GOD I had no idea how beautiful a body scrub could smell; and this is the dreamiest, yummiest exfoliant I’ve ever tried. The salted caramel and macadamia work so well together, and almost make me feel like a dessert when using it! I’ve been using this daily in the shower, and it leaves my skin feeling new as a baby! The exfoliating macadamia nut granules are perfect for my legs, washing away dead skin and leaving mine feeling super soft and nourished. Would absolutely recommend this product to anyone!
Cloudberry & Lychee Blossom Body Butter*
Once you’re out of the shower, if you have any stubborn dry spots on your skin; you can then dive into the delicious cloudberry & lychee blossom body butter from Being by Sanctuary Spa. I just love the name to be honest; cloudberry sounds a bit magical doesn’t it?! This fruity product is perfect for lathering all over and feeling truly dipped in silk.
Hibiscus & Coconut Water Body Mist*
And finally there’s the new body spray which smells of warm Summer evenings with a cocktail. Made with coconut and hibiscus to fuse together a light and appealing body spray; it’s an instant spritz of those Summer months, even on the dreariest of days. I have found I also love spraying different fabrics with this lightly, to keep it around me constantly. Scarves, pillows and hats included!
So yeah, I’ve been indulging in some self care this week, and it’s been so needed. I even have a list of movies I’m working my way through, AND I’ve finished two books I was reading. It’s amazing what you have time for when you’re not working yourself into the ground!
Next week will be a busy one with the family visit, days out, and trying to catch up on work; but for now, it’s a slow Sunday here. And I kind of love it.
