Exploring Plymouth Barbican With Jacamo*

22nd May 2017

Yesterday we decided to head down to Plymouth Barbican, something we’ve been meaning to do since we moved. I’ve visited a few times before, but I really want to get to know every nook and cranny of Plymouth now that I’m officially a resident.

The Barbican is beautifully picturesque, full of lots of tourist shops, and has the prettiest views around. We didn’t get a chance to go up to the Hoe, but I’ll be sure to share loads of photos when I do, I’m sure.

I’m sure to anyone used to living in a place like this, this is boring and everyday to them. But I’m so used to only living in a city centre, or bloody council estates, and having such a beautiful place on my doorstep feels incredibly special to me. Gary is enjoying being back in his home town, and is happily showing me around and laughing at my utter delight at every new discovery.

The lovely folk over at Jacamo* very kindly offered to send me some clothing for Gary, so I could try to style the perfect menswear look for him, and see if I knew his style preferences. I reckon I know Gary pretty well after 6 years, so I decided to take the challenge!

I browsed through Jacamo’s site and was spoiled for choice; but decided to opt for the basics that Gary lives and breathes day in and day out! I selected the French Navy Basic Chinos, and the Classic White Tshirt. Gary is perfectly suited to the Capsule Wardrobe trend, because he sticks to neutral colours and classic basics that can be styled a range of ways. The chinos and tee from Jacamo are perfect for that, and I think he looks pretty good, eh?!

The best thing is, the quality and fit are so damn good! Gary’s a tall sod, at over 6 foot, and sometimes has trouble with trouser lengths. Jacamo have a huge range of sizes, and much more styles available than I first expected.

Gary was extremely happy with my choices, and even agreed that I am the best ever (okay I may have forced him to say that). As a thanks for my awesomeness, he even bought me some ice cream while browsing around the Barbican.

While we were there, I seen a few ‘touristy’ things I might keep in mind for when my family visits us; like boat rides! There seems to be loads to do, and I can’t wait for them to see this new place I’m living.

Anyway, now to convince Gary to always let me dress him.

A huge thanks to Jacamo, for being so lovely! 🙂
