I can’t be alone in feeling like 2020 was a bit of a waste of a year. We all spent the year indoors, wishing for things to be different and feeling uncertain every single day. Which is why I have decided that 2021 is going to be the year that we make things happen. We’ve had a whole year to think about what we are missing and what we wish we had, so next year we are going to go ahead and do it; and top of my list, is giving my living space an amazing makeover. Here are my decor plans for 2021.
Brand New Office
At the top of my list is my office. Longtime readers of my blog will know that my office was actually my brother’s bedroom, so it was more of a part-time office. My brother has now moved out, which means that I am going to be able to have full use of the room and make it completely suit my needs. Because I was working in a smaller space before I came up with clever storage to make sure I had room for everything that I needed for my business, which means that I’ve already got great shelving in the room and it’s a good base to make it perfect for me, giving me dedicated space to rest if I need to.
Re-Do the Floors
It’s been a while since we’ve had new flooring in our home, so I really want to give the whole place a refresh next year. Having cats, it is important to have wood flooring as it is easier to clean and less likely to get damaged, and then I want some gorgeous rugs so that we still get the benefit of that cosiness beneath our toes. I love light wood flooring to make space feel brighter and more open, for that fresh vibe that keeps you feeling motivated.
I’ve just finished helping my parents with a bedroom makeover, so next, it’s my turn! I spend a lot of time in my bedroom, and I like to unwind there at the end of the night and play video games to relax, so I already have a really relaxing and cosy space. I want to treat myself a little bit by replacing things like cushions, bedding and curtains so that it all feels brand new and exciting. I want to focus on colours that relax me so I can use the space to unwind, as well as sensory things like fluffy and soft cushions to make me feel pampered even if I’m just going for a nap.
Lots of Room for Self Care
And finally, I am all about the self-care, which is why I think it’s important to make the most of the spaces in your home that are for looking after yourself. I’m thinking twinkling lights by the hot tub to make every soak feel like a special occasion, and face masks at the ready wherever I am working so that I can use the time to squeeze in a cheeky pamper.
Do you have any decor plans for your home in 2021? I’d love to hear about them!
