If there’s one thing people know about me whether online or IRL; it’s that I love anything glittery. I’ll wear glitter all year round, in my makeup, wearing glittery clothes or accessories, and anything shiny pretty much goes down very well with me. In fact, I actually have one makeup drawer dedicated solely to glitter. Yep. It’s full of pots, palettes and glues just dying to add some glitz into my everyday life, and I regularly try out new looks.
So when Boots got in touch with me asking me to try out a range of NYX products*, particularly their
NYX Glitter pots; I obviously said yes! I’m always keen to try out new products, and the glitter pots looked AMAZING.
In total I was sent such a beautiful little hamper of goodies from Boots, including:
- 6 NYX Glitter pots
- NYX Ultimate Smokey & Highlight eyeshadow palette
- NYX Worth the Hype Mascara
- NYX Epic Ink Liner
- NYX Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream in ‘Cannes’
- NYX Glitter Primer
- Boots Cotton Pads
- Garnier Oil-Infused Cleansing Micellar Water
I decided for this challenge, I would create an everyday glitter look as something more casual, for those who may be shy of glitter usually. I’m actually going to create another look very soon, which is much more experimental, so feel free to throw at requests my way if you have something particular you’d like to see.
All of the products I was sent were genuinely absolutely AMAZING, and I wish I could say something critical to be honest; but I’m so happy with them! At a push, I might say I wish the eyeshadow palette had a glimmering green or pink in; but considering it’s a smokey palette it makes sense that it hasn’t!
I started off by using my usual primer and foundation, before delving into NYX Smokey and Highlight Eyeshadow palette, opting for the deep reddish brown shade (found on the second row). The pigmentation of this palette was immediately impressive, and I found it blended really beautifully across my lid. I have hooded eyes, so blending eyeshadows easily to ‘open them up’ a little is really important to me, and NYX make the job easy.
The the most fun part! I used the NYX Glitter Primer to layer on my eyelids, concentrating just above the crease of my lid. This didn’t feel sticky or ‘tacky’ as I expected at all, and easily smoothed over my skin with ease. Then I simply shook some glitter out of the pot (It has handy holes in, stopping too much coming out all at once!) onto my finger, and applied this by dabbing over my eyelid. The glitters are UNREAL guys! So stunningly beautiful, highly pigmented, and they feel light as a feather. Non of that clumpy, big glitter you can feel poking your eyes out. Seriously, you can wear these all day and forget you’re twinkling away. BIG fan. So much so, that I actually decided to pop some on my lips too! I thoroughly encourage you all to try this.
You can actually watch a lil video of me putting together this look:
Glitter will always be a firm favourite beauty product of mine, and Boots have a great range of
Glitter Eyeshadow from lots of awesome brands, to tempt you all too! So glitter was always going to make me smile, but I was pleasantly surprised at some of the other products I tried for this look too.
The NYX Worth The Hype Mascara is now my FAVOURITE mascara ever! YES. You may already know that I’ve mentioned a few times on this blog before, how mascara’s never really bother me, and I’ve often been left underwhelmed. I’ve openly admitted this is because I have really short, thin, stubby eyelashes that refuse to curl, and usually look invisible anyway. But now? Oh my gosh, I’m in love. Worth The Hype lives up to it’s name, and I refuse to use anything else now. It has the perfect wand for use with short lashes, as I’m able to get to even the most tiny corner ones. It helps lengthen my lashes and make me look so much more fluttery than I could have hoped for.
I’m also really impressed with NYX Epic Ink Liner, and I wish I had tried it before now! It’s super thin brush helps me achieve the swishest of eyeliner flicks, and it’s waterproof formula keeps it looking fresh throughout the day (yep, even when every tiny little breeze makes me sob).
And if that weren’t enough? The Garnier Micellar Water that Boots sent was a god send for taking all this off at the end of the day! I have already used Garnier Micellar waters before and liked them; but this oil-infused water is a game changer. It left my skin feeling soft and loved, rather than dry and bare. Perfect for removing even the most long lasting glitter looks!
A huge thank you to Boots for allowing me to try such wonderful products! Be sure to let me know what glitter looks you guys are creating too, or that you’d like to see me create next using this range!
