January has been a hell of a month for me already, and we’re only half way through!
I won’t go into the whole lot, because to be honest that would be a lot of typing, and a lot of moaning. However I will say we’re having work done on the house so it’s chaotic, AND our fridge broke suddenly, AND my printer broke too. So it’s been extremely stressful for me.
Rather than have a total nuclear breakdown, I’ve decided to make sure I’m taking time for little acts of self care. These are just things that work for me personally, but do feel free to leave me some suggestions too!
3 Little Acts of Self care
1. Taking time to paint
I absolutely ADORE painting. There is nothing better than a blank canvas, plenty of colours, and an hour or two to kill. I specialise in colourful abstract work, and having time to myself to paint is so good for me! It relaxes me beyond belief, gives me such a creative boost, and makes me feel a little more positive even on the worst days too.
2. Bubble Baths
I know this one is such a cliche, BUT!!!! We have just got a bath installed for the first time in FOUR YEARS. I’ve only had the option of showering everyday, but now I can actually take a lovely bubble bath – yay! I plan on buying some lovely bath bombs, and settling in with a good book (and maybe a glass of wine!) at least once a week now.
3. Getting away from screens
I spend so much time looking at screens. Not just my phone, but also the TV, ipad and laptop. Even if I’m not scrolling and I’m genuinely being creative; chances are its drawing on the ipad. Which isn’t too bad, but I do want some time completely away from all screens. More time for reading books, doing hands on crafts, playing with my son, and having nice date nights with my husband. I’ll be making sure I get a few hours away from all screens everyday now!
What little acts of self care do you guys enjoy?
