Whether you have been considering giving your home a refresh or are ready to grab a paintbrush and start painting, you might be interested in knowing the top paint trends for this year. I love to be in the know about any and all home trends – I mean… am I the only one spending too much time browsing interior décor pages on Instagram? It’s my go-to type of procrastination.
So, you can imagine how excited I was to speak to the professionals who revealed this year’s top paint trends. I spoke to Kent Blaxill specialists in paint and wallpaper who shared the paint trends to keep an eye on (and try!) this year. Kent Blaxill stock all kinds of paint and wallpaper, from highly pigmented paints and handcrafted wallpaper by Farrow and Ball to classic paints by Dulux, and even environmentally-friendly paints and wallpapers by Little Greene.
Who is Kent Blaxill?
Kent Blaxill is a company that sells decorating products online and has a multitude of decorating centres across the country. As Buckets of Tea shares, “Kent Blaxill is a family-owned business that started as a small shop on Colchester High Street in 1838.” With Kent Blaxill’s experience and expertise, I thought they would be the right professionals to talk about paint trends.
Vibrant Colours.
Good Housekeeping shared that vibrant and earthy hues will be a trend this year, and I can completely see that happening! “Lots of people are leaning towards the kind of vibrant, energizing and exciting hues, which were popular in the ’50s” comments Annie Sloan on Good Housekeeping.
Calming Interiors.
Funnily enough, calming hues also seem to be on the horizon. Let’s be real, neutral colours will never go out of fashion. Plus, now there are countless neutral colours, from off-whites to almost-greys. So, the choices are endless! After these couple of strange years, it comes as no surprise that people would be looking to decorate their interiors with restfulness and relaxation in mind.
Colour of the Year.
Perhaps you’d like to give the colour of the year a try? Various paint brands have set their own “Colour of The Year”, so there are plenty of choices! Pantone announced that their Colour of the Year is a new shade of blue and violet – Very Peri. Benjamin Moore shared that their Colour of the Year is a gently shaded sage green – October Mist.
I know that following trends isn’t for everyone. In a recent blog post, DIY Daddy Blog recommended staying away from trends. “Remember that trends come and go, so don’t chase trends around. Decorate with items you love and turn your house into a home in no time.” However, if you truly love a trend, what’s stopping you from decorating your home that way?
