5 Things I’m Looking Forward To In Winter

31st October 2022

I love this time of year, it’s the best! I’ve come to realise I feel much more like myself in the Winter months, and I have so much that I love to do at this time of year. I’ve definitely never been a Spring/Summer sort of person; but the older I get the more I 100% fall in love with Autumn/Winter.

So let’s dive in! Here are my top 5 things I’m looking forward to this Winter…

1. The drop in temperature

Now before I go on, let me just say that the energy crisis we’re currently going through in the UK is horrendous. This is a major worry for many families across the country this Winter – including me and my family. I’m constantly worried about paying bills, and he price increases are so, so bad. I don’t want to focus on that at the moment, only the good. But it would be pretty weird to not acknowledge that this is a real and important issue for us all.

But anyway…

I *do* typically love the drop in temperature in Winter as I love the cosy vibes of having blankets everywhere, bringing out the spare duvets, wrapping up in cosy clothes, and of course the excuse to have a hot chocolate! The cosiest time of year is definitely my favourite time of year.

2. Staying in

I’m a homebody, for sure. Years ago, nothing would have been better to me than a night out with pals getting drunk in a tiny dress even on the coldest nights! This is CRAZY now to me. My idea of fun is proper hibernating from the world for a few months, and Winter gives me that perfect excuse to do so. Since I have a little one, I have to entertain indoors in Winter. But I love thinking up craft ideas, baking, reading together, and having movie nights! Staying in for the win, woo!

3. The movies

Speaking of movies – who else loves a cheesy Winter rom com? Those Hallmark movies are TERRIBLE, but BRILLIANT, no? I love any movie filled with twinkly lights, snow, Christmas songs, crazy families, and if there’s a love story on top? Wonderful. I’ve also found that Winter is the time when I most love to watch nostalgic movies from my childhood. Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone, Scrooged, and more; are regulars in our house!

4. Planning ahead

I love the end of the year. The organised part of my brain loves to plan ahead and get myself ready for the upcoming months, and make a real game plan when it comes to my shop. I enjoy working out what holidays I need to make a note of for certain products; for example Valentines – greetings cards. I also enjoy setting myself some goals for he year ahead. Some personal goals, some work based goals. And I like to keep them a little ambitious to push myself, but not too drastic that I’m just setting myself up to fail. On the whole, the end of the year really gets me organised, which I love!

5. Christmas!

Of course, I had to specifically put Christmas on the list! I never used to be much fussed when it came to this holiday; but since having a child that’s all changed. I love to plan his gifts, send out cards, decorate the house, and make special memories for our family. Also having copious amounts of chocolate and wine around is rather lovely too!

What about you guys, do you look forward to the end of the year? Let me know!
